Hem the Dwarft

I had a chance to play Hero Quest this past weekend and I got inspired to do some painting. I have not painted to many dwarfs before, they were very challenging. There are a lot of tiny spaces and hard to reach areas. I think it came out pretty good, you can leave a comment if you disagree.

Hero Quest Barbarian

I started painting my barbarian. I did not do a dip job on him. I started with a base coat and did some brown wash on his skin and boots, a dark blue wash on his loin cloth and black with a dark gray dry brush on his hair. I am still learning how to do eyes well but they came out pretty well i think.

HeroQuest Orc Dip Job

I recently got HeroQuest for the third time. I don't know why I have sold this game ever it is to awesome. I started playing with some friends that are all table top newbies. The playing has went well so far. To make the game more enjoyable and also because I like painted figures better; I have started painting them. If you look back in my post you will see figure that I painted in the past for this game. I used a dark undercoat and dry brushed the colors to give depth. More recently I have been experimenting with washes and inks; I have also learned about dips. I have never used a dip before so I decided to try it out on the orcs.

I put a quick base coat not to detailed.

Then I dipped each one and held them with a pare of pliers to shake off the excess. I took a brush and dabbed of the extra that pooled up in areas I did not want it.

Gaming table

Got a gaming table going again. There is a work bench under the plywood sheet and is divided in to gaming sizes. in the center of the black lines is 4x4 for playing Mordheim and from the edge to the farthest black line is 6x4 for Warhammer games.

If you look on the far end of the table you may see a sound mixer. what could that mean? Could a pod cast be coming soon? stay tuned to find out more.

Mordheim ruin city

I have been working on putting together my city to play some Mordheim. I got one from the local shop I thinknit was made by bolt action, thats thr resin tower. I also found some ruined paper models from drivethroughrpg.com the other two tall buildings. I also have 2 towers from battle masters.

I really liked the paper models easy to assemble as well as fun. The buildings have great detail and are customizable in apearance. I will either make a couple more of the same model different in design or get another type. There where sevral to choose from in a ruined theme and many more whole buildings. There is a cool ruined church I have been looking at, we will see.

The darkside

It finally happened I crossed over to the dark side and got a 40k army. I picked up some orks marines and tau. Sold the orks and marines kept the tau all at a profit. I know I did not pick traditional colors but when do I ever. I'll be posting more the pain I have a pretty good size army looking forward to getting to playing.

I was having such a hard time finding games and people to play fantasy with that I think it's going to be easier but now I have to learn all the rules. I picked out because I thought they were one of the cooler looking armies it turns out that there is a really hard hitting on me so that'll be nice because I usually get stuck with army hard to use. I think I mentioned the first and crème I ever used was the tune Kings Army and the best I could ever do without one with to get to draw. It would be nice to win some of these games for once in my life lol.

Steam tank 2

I made more progress on my Empire steam tank I finished painting the commander I tried a different technique on his yellow. Instead of using a black 2 highlights I use the brown I think it looks a little better but I'm still unsure. Please leave comments and tell me which one you think looks better.

Empire Steam Tank

I have been buying and selling a lot of warhammer lately, but of course I had to keep some for my self. I got another war wagon unpainted and a old school steam tank.

It had some paint on it so I primed the front but left the base coat on the back. It was painted the traditional blue and red, but that does not match my color sceam.  Yellow is for war machines and artillery.  Now yellow is very had to work with, at least for me. Here is what I have done. The driver still needs painting.

This old school model di not have a steam gun; so I am looking for a smallish cannon or some type of rifle to put on a swivel. I am thinking of making some kind of hose come out of the back of it.

If any one know a good way to do yellow let me know.

Another craigslist find

I came across another great deal on craigslist! A whole set of skulls pass plus some extras for 40 bucks!

I have wanted to start a dwarf army for a little while so this was a great deal. I am sellin all the extra stuff to break even I might even make some money if I can make my self sell the goblins. Makes me wish I did not sell the other goblin stuff I had.

Some has already had paint job started, but I like to start from a white base and use inks and washes. They are plastic so I cant strip them, but I think if I hit them with a light coat of primmer I should be safe.

I did not take any pics of the gobo stuff yet.

Kurt Helborg Painted

I just finished up the highlighting on my Kurt Helborg paint job.
If you look back at what this model looked like when I got it you may be able to tell I painted over the old job. It was already primed and had some colors on it already. The armor was painted and most of the red areas where blue the areas that are copper also left as it was.
I went with the classic red and white of the Reiksguard, I will use the same color schem on the rest of my Reiksgaurd units. A whole unit will look really cool with this paint job me thinks.

Empire Painted Wizards

I found some more time to do some painting.
I would like to add some copper or gold to his chest plate book and sword to spice it up. and the yellow stripes I added because it was looking plane.
There are still have some color to add the hilt of the sword and the details on his hat and jacket. but all and all not bad.

War Priest Painted

I have not had much time to paint lately with work and a little girl, much less do a character. I have been painting a unit of halberdiers, but painting regular units can become a little tedious. So I thought I would do something a little more detailed. I got this war priest a while back and striped it from the paint job it came with. This is the first model I put eyes on. I came out pretty good. I wish the picture of the face where better. That is as close as I could get with my camera.

New Old Warhammer figures

I came across a great deal on some Out Of Print Empire figures. I have been putting together an army of units that I remember from the late 80’s and early 90’s when I started collecting.

Hero's and command

Mounted wizard that matches the one I have on foot score

I think this is an OOP Ludwig Schwarzhelm
I think this is a OOP Kurt Helborg

Cool standard bearer I am definatly putting in my army.

A Hafling comand unit with one spearman. I dont think they have been used the in the game for a while. I am thinking about using them as comand and champions of my halbard units.

Vintange Hell Blaser and crew

This is wha made me jump all over the post. I have been looking for more OOP Halbardiers for my army. It cam with over 40 halbard figures so I have enough for a huge block or 2 smaller ones. I have been looking for spearmen also but Ill use these for now.

And I got 2 original boxes (the real box is not this out of focus). I posted the other stuff that came with this lot below, most of which I am not keeping. Not that its not cool I just want other stuff.
